beagleboard black question

Which MLO are you using?  You will need to create a custom MLO that works with the DDR3 and PMIC on the Beaglebone Black.

The .bin file must be processed with tiimage.exe in order to include header information and then renamed "app".

Also, make sure the SD card MBR is marked active and bootable.  I have found that some cards are not set as bootable out of the package.

Is the modification (from ddr2 to ddr3) of the bootloader difficult?

I am an absolute newbie on bare-metal and am trying to boot up the board and run the demo app...

Just finished the modification and flash in the LEDBlinkgpio demo, and only User LED 2 is blinking, is that what the demo supposed to act like?

I don't have a workable UART-USB cable on hand so cannot try out the "demo" demo...

EDIT: silly me forgot to check out the source code of the demo programme, I think my modification works !

The GPIO LEDBlink example on execution continuously blinks the User LED peridoically.

Can you share your working modification? Or at least tell what modification you made.

John, thanks for the modified files. I tried it on my A5B BBB but it still doesn't work. Which revision do you have? And do you have any idea why it doesn't work for me? Thanks a lot.

hi , mine is A5C. According to the revision notes from TI, my modifications should work on A5B as well.

When I include your update and build it with CCS, I found strange error saying that ioPadMap is already declared in current context.. etc..

Somehow in beaglebone.h:

#ifndef _BEALGEBONE_H_
#define _BEAGLEBONE_H_

I changed it to:

#ifndef _BEAGLEBONE_H_
#define _BEAGLEBONE_H_

And now it compiles fine...

I am new to beaglebone black and i am not being able to run LEDblink demo on it

i replaced files given by John Lau and recompiled bootloader and ledblink demo

i renamed bootloader ti image to MLO and copied it to formatted SD card(FAT32 1GB)

i renamed ledblink demo ti image to app and copied it to sdcard

on booting nothing happens.

can anybody give be detailed instruction. also can anybody share compiled MLO and LED blink demo for beagle bone black. I am having version A5C

1. Try format the first partition of the SD card to be somewhere around 100MB. 1GB might work just fine but I haven't tried it.

2. Hold the boot button (or S2 or the one near the big USB port) down when booting the bone up. Delete the `mlo` file in the internal NAND if you want it to always boot to SD.

I'm also trying to get the gpioblink starterware going on the BBB. I've tried compiling the bootloader and gpio app with the modified files provided above and put them as MLO and app on my FAT formatted SD card. Then while holding S2 I try booting, but no LEDs light up.

I don't think the SD card is the problem, because I already used it to successfully flash the eMMC to the newest Angstrom.  The only thing I can think of is that I have the newer A6 revision board, and the previous successful people were using A5b and A5c.  Has anyone successfully gotten starterware going on an A6 rev. BeagleBone Black?

If so, if you could give me a hand it would be greatly appreciated.

Does TI have any plans of updating the StarterWare for the Beagle Bone Black?  I was able to follow this example to get the bootloader working, but unfortunately I am having issues with the demo application.

We are currently in the process of completing a patch for the BeagleBoneBlack over the StarterWare release 02.00.01.01. It will be made available on the StarterWare release page by 14th Feb 2014. We will make a forum post indicating its availability.

Thank you very much for pointing out the requirement of " the SD card MBR to be marked active and bootable".

I had this problem of my 4GB memory card not being detected in BBB.

I used following information to format the card appropriately:

Now it is being read easily and it works like it should.
