SPI Pin Control Register

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138

Hi all,

I am using the Omap-L138 Logic PD EVM Board, Code Composer Studio v5 and the StarterWare drivers.

I am trying to set two speicific values to the SPIPC0 and SPIC1 but am getting a 1 in some reserved bits. Is this expected?

(I am trying to write 0x00000600 in SPIPC0 and 0x000009FF in SPIPC1)

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Michelle

  • I tried those setting those SPI1 registers on my C6748. Same values, ie. 0x00000600 in SPIPC0 and 0x000009FF in SPIPC1. I got the same values:

    SPIPC0 = 0x00010600
    SPIPC1 = 0x010009FF

    I am using SPI1 but with different settings and I checked the register contents after setup.

    SPIPC0 = 0x01010E01
    SPIPC1 = 0x00000000

    Seems the reserved bits depend on the unreserved bits. The TRM says writes are ignored, so no harm in blindly writing 0 to reserved bits. Up to this point, I've been ignoring those reserved bits.

    This quirk is more of a HW thing than a StarterWare thing. Maybe try posting in the processor sub-forum or ask the moderators to get this thread moved there.

  • Hi Norman,

    Thanks for your reply. I thought about posting it in a the OMAP-L138 processor sub-forum but its no longer accessible. Don't really know why. Maybe I should post in in a DSP one. What you are saying does make sense though. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Michelle

  • That forum got moved. It can be accessed from 3 different spots.

    ARM Processors -> Sitara ARM Cortex-A Processors -> AM1x, C674x and OMAP-L13x Processors Forum
    Digital Signal Processors -> OMAP Processors -> OMAP-L13x, AM1x and C674x Processors Forum
    Digital Signal Processors -> C6000 Single Core DSP -> C674x, AM1x and OMAP-L13x Processors Forum

    Confusing it is not under the root level OMAP Applications Processors. Seems that only OMAP 4 and 5 are there.

  • Thank you so much!!!
