Trouble running "Hello World" SysLink example on DSP of DM814x

Hi,

We are using EzSDK 5_05_01_04 version. I am trying to run Hello World demo of syslink on DSP.

But I am getting " notify_shm_drv_sendevent failed! " error. By debugging in system we found that this syslink demo is working when we stop firmware loading of DSP, HDVPSS and HDVICP form load_firmware script file.

Here I have attached different logs with disabling firmware loading of DSP, HDVPSS and HDVICP. We can not disable firmware load in our application use case.

Please provide me solution for this problem.

You do not need to disable the firmware load. You can stop the firmware, run the syslink, then start the firmware.

    Refer to the ti-ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_05_01_04/docs/DM814x_EZ_Software_Developers_Guide.pdf document:

    Running the SysLink examples

Note! The syslink samples use a different memory map from the default EZSDK installation. In order to run syslink examples, you must boot with a different memory for linux. When booting, ensure that the linux bootargs is changed from the default values to MEM=169M

Note! The syslink samples cannot be run out with graphics or firmware loaded. Please execute the following steps to teardown the graphics plane and ensure that no firmware is running.

    target # /etc/init.d/pvr-init stop
    target # /etc/init.d/matrix-gui-e stop
    target # /etc/init.d/load-hd-firmware.sh stop

Now the system is ready to run all syslink samples.

  • Hi Pavel,

Thank you for reply, I have tested my system with your approach and its working perfectly, but I can not stop firmware in my use case.

What I want to do is to encode some audio data and then calculate checksum of that data on DSP and send those all informations by RTP.

So is there any other option to run my syslink application with out stopping firmware.

I do not find any official guidelines about how to achieve that. But I can find several E2E threads which discuss this option. Please have a look, might be in help:

  • Hi Pavel,

Thank you for sharing e2e threads. I am still running in this issue, as per this e2e threads it seems the memory configuration issue. Also I found that some community member's have fixed this issue by changing configuartion from Platform.xdc file.
I am using 5.05 EzSDK with TI8148 EVM, Can you provide me memory configuration for this setup to run syslink example with out unloading media firmware binaries?
