How to install Additional Android Apps onto Panda5AJ.1.5 image?

First step I tried was downloading the 4.1.10 APK of Google Play Store. Used command line "adb install" to push the app down to OMAP5 device. However even though I have internet connectivity, the app does not work. Without the Google Play Store App, you cannot download/install APK's from Google Play Store.

Problem seems related to not being able to add an account to the device. "Settings->Add Account" does not work. Perhaps a fix for this will allow Google Play Store APK to run correctly?

Hi Scott,

Can you please first try to do "adb root"(this would give you the complete access) on the command line and then do a "adb install" of the APK file.

Can you also send the logs if you have any.

The problem is not installing the Google Play Store APK file. That works fine. It is later when I try to execute it from the Android UI. As as workaround to this issue, I am looking at just pulling APK files from another JellyBean 4.2.2 device and installing them to OMAP5 platform.

If you could check out another one of my posts regarding Miracast. Curious as to if there is a way to support Miracast on this platform. Shipping Jellybean 4.2.2 devices have Miracast support built-in.

Can you post the log here if you have any so that we can take a look and better understand the problem.

In order Google Play to work did you install the Google service apk which allows you to sign in with your google account?

Hi Babs,

Please open another thread next time.

You have to download some ported apk files of the service framework. ( try with this one https://code.google.com/p/androidmarketu/downloads/detail?name=GoogleServicesFramework.apk) and afther that you install the playstore.

Sorry about not starting a new thread, I figured it was the same problem and hasn't been answered yet, so I thought I would add to it.

I downloaded it and attempted to install it but can't, I get the following error:

pkg: /data/local/tmp/GoogleServicesFramework.apk

Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]

So the cert is not correctly signed. Trying to figure out that now. I've also just put it at /system/apps and when I run "Add Account" from settings, it crashes. So still no joy.

Hi Babs,

Ypur app is not signed, for more info how to sign it with certificate you can find at http://developer.android.com/tools/publishing/app-signing.html.

Btw did you enable usb debugging permissions from Developer options of the android menu?
