AM335x usb Ethernet issues.

I just tried LINKSYS USB300M (by Cisco) with ping for a few minutes and don't have any issue.

I know of a customer who used these with multiple engineers and EVM's for months until their target HW came in. Same ASIX driver as Bin mentions above.

Do you have any other network devices enabled that might be conflicting somehow?  Maybe check udev and /dev and /etc/network?

I've always been using the adaptor in conjunction with one of the physical Ethernet ports on the device. Perhaps there could be a conflict there?

Sounds like people have had some success with the cisco adaptor which is good to hear. I have other adaptors arriving soon so hopefully one of those will help solve my issue.

Hi I finally received some more adaptors today, but still no luck.

I'm essentially pinging another machine on a different subnet routed via the am335x using one physical port and one usb adaptor. After some time I get "Destination host unreachable" on my windows machine. This might be after half an hour to an hour.

windows machine<---->Am335x<--->linux host

where: windows machine<---->Am335x is on a 192.168.2.x subnet

and: Am335x<--->linux host  is on a 192.168.40.x subnet

On wireshark I see normal behaviour, "Echo (ping) request" followed by Echo (ping) reply. Then eventually the ping replies stop and instead I see the Arp messages: "Who has 192.168.40.4 Tell 192.168.40.1" and "192.168.40.4 is at MAC_ADDRESS". Where .40.4 is the linux host and 40.1 is the am335x using the usb adaptor.

This issue appears to be with the am335x. Can anyone replicate this issue?

- You will need to narrow down further to see if the issue is more at the Axis USB driver, TI USB driver or network level.
dmesg might already gives some hint on what could have happened.

You could use procfs and sysfs (for example enable the DEBUG message) to try to get more info from the USB side.

- The below page does show a board to board (host to device) USB CDC test. You might want to reproduce it and check that if you have a continuous connection between the 2 boards:

Once you connection issue is solve you could as well re-test this.

- Also make sure to use the latest SDK (6.0) and PSP(4.06.00.11) for the development board your are using.
It seems that the latest PSP has been tested on the new silicon rev 2.1.
Also the lastest patches are placed in Arago AM335x Linux tree as long as they are not included in the PSP and merged in an SDK release.
