Disabling MCASP functional clocks in AM335x

I have a requirement to stop the AHCLKX clock ouput. For this i am thinking of disabling MCASP function clocks without touching MCASP registers. Is this the better way or i should modify the MCASP registers to stop the AHCLKX output?

Please help me with suggestions.

You could simply change the ACLKX pinmux value to, say GPIO, and use the internal pullup/pulldown resistors to set it to a fixed state.

Turning the clock off using this method will generate short cycle clocks since this operation is asynchronous to the clock. The audio codec may not work correctly if you send it a short cycle clock.
