interfacing HDMI and DIR CS8416 via SPDif or I2S to TMS320C6748

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6748, TMS320DM6467

Dear Team,

where may I get  some sample schematics or application notes on how to :

1.  interfacing DIR CS8416 via SPDif digital audio to TMS320C6748 ( are there capacitors or resistors needed ?

2. interfacing HDMI Audio to TMS320C6748 - where may I find SIL interface schemtic ?

Thank you for help

  • Peter,

There are no native HDMI or SPDIF interfaces on the C6474.  This would require significant glue logic (probably an FPGA) in-between on of the native interfaces on the device and what you would like.

The DaVinci family of devices 'DM64x devices' would have more native peripherals for Audio/Video applications and may be a better fit for what you need.

  • Chad,

thank you, but I just meant I do have here a SPDif tranceiver chip the CS4186, this part has  SPDif input and I2S output.
The I2S should go into the C6747s McASP
Question is just, do I need some capacitors or resistors in between the I2S trace ?

Here is a nice diagram for  HDMI Transmitter/Receiver Support on TMS320DM6467 with a Sil9134

Just looking for the appropriate example schematics....

What DaVinvi DM64x  would have same or higher performance as the C6747 ?
We are using most of the C6747 for audio resampling calculations

  • Ok, I guess this is C6747 and not C6474 as originally posted (which doesn't have a McASP.)  I'll move this to the correct forum and update your Subject line to indicate the correct device.
