Hi.

I want to know about the connection of RS-485 IC and UART(AM1705).

 

Please tell us about the following points.


(1)Or do I connected to the pin on the AM1705 throat signal of RE and DE?

(2)When shorting the RE pin DE, and controls ON / OFF of the communication RS-485 with one, Or do I connected to the pin on the AM1705 throat

    Hamada,

    You can connect both ways if you’ve shorted RE and DE pins and connected to the single control to save I/O pins.

     If you have more I/O pins you can have a separate control of RE and DE.

    Usually if you see some reference design they short RE and DE pins and connected to single control pin of the controller
