Which BIOSPSP version to use?

We use the C6748 DSP.  Recently a new BIOSPSP version was released, however it appears a lot has been removed (SPI, UART, BLOCKMEDIA, etc).  The release notes are no help in trying to figure out what has changed between the two versions.

BIOSPSP 03.00.01.00   ..or..   BIOSPSP 03.01.01.00?

Thanks, Dean

  • Any BIOSPSP TI support people out there?  Seems to be a pretty quick and easy question to answer.

  • Dean,

I have moved this thread over to the device forum in hopes that someone with knowledge of the BIOS PSP can answer your question more quickly.

  • Dean,

Please kindly refer the biospsp user guide as per the below path,
    BIOS6_INSTALL_DIR\docs\Bios_User_Guide.pdf

BIOSPSP 03.01.01.00 (Refer in biospsp user guide)
Note: The below list has supported services and features provided in BIOS PSP package.
However some services and features might be excluded in this release. Please refer the
release notes for exact features and services supported in this release.

Thanks for your notification, more details are not avilable about the some excluded services in this release notes (C6748 BIOSPSP 03.01.01.00). As mentioned the below sections in the release notes,

    4 Drivers/Components for this release

    4.1 Other changes

And also refer the section "2 BIOSPSP Drivers - Features" in BIOS PSP C6748 Datasheet(03.01.01.00).

  • I referred to the Bios_User_Guide.pdf, and there is no mention of BIOSPSP in the entire document.  Not sure why you pointed me there.

So now were onto the BIOSPSP users guide.  All the drivers are listed (Block Media, SD, SPI, etc).  So I'll repeat my question:  Why does the users guide reference all the drivers, and yet the folders only seem to contain audio and McBSP?  Is 03.01.01.00 some serious cut down version?

    - Dean

  • Dean,

Thanks for your response and notification about the cut down package.
TI will release the package like separating the PSP for streaming drivers and StarterWare for non-streaming peripherals.
In the current release document will confuse the customers. Because it was not documented clearly  about the cut down package.
Please be patient about this issue, TI will provide the updated package.

  • OK, thanks for the update.  I guess the best thing to do is go back to the old BIOSPSP package and wait for TI to figure out what they are doing regarding BIOSPSP.
