problem about load

Hi,

We use RDK4.0, DM8168.  The flash can not be used, so I start with network port.

I update the Uboot and kernel, and it can mount the NFS at beginning, and then I run the login.sh.  The firmware is used as before, it's no problem.

The login.sh is as following:

cd /opt/dvr_rdk/ti816x
./init.sh
./load.sh
cd /opt/dvr_rdk/ti816x/bin

First I run the login.sh twice, and then 8168 is not working all long. If I restart the board, the console prints nothing.  The log is as following:

 _____                    _____           _         _

What's the problem?  We need your help.

Thanks.

  • log1.txt shows you are running login.sh twice which is wrong. Login .sh executes init.sh which does rmmod of syslink. Syslink can be rmmmod only after unload.sh is executed.

    log2.txt shows you have not built syslink using the correct kernel . It looks like you have updated uImage but your filesystem still contains syslink etc built with older kernel and tooolchain.

    But both these crashes will not cause your board to stop working. If you don't get uboot prompt when you power cycle the board probably your nand is corrupted.The crash has nothing to do with your board not working.Try flashing the correct uboot using CCS+JTAG and the nand flash writer utility to recover the board.

  • hello,Michelle.

    I have the same error as you showed in log2.txt . Do you  "flashing the correct uboot using CCS+JTAG and the nand flash writer utility to recover the board" ? Or solved the problem in other ways?

    I have set the env right,and init.sh runs well ,but when it comes to load.sh ,everytime it shows the same error:

    Thanks & Regards

  • You have either not done insmod syslink.ko or your syslink insmod failed due to mismatch between kernel version and syslink module version.Check dmesg trace to see if you get any errors whielk doing insmod of syslink.

    Do make sys_all, flash the uImage and copy all the rebuilt binaries to filesystem

  • hello,Badri.

    In other PC i flash uboot and uImage to nand, the filesystem is in /dvrrdk/DVRRDK_04.01.00.02/target/rfs_816x ,and when executing init.sh and load.sh , there's no Syslink module error. Now in my PC I've installed the same RDK , I have make sys_all , uboot and  uImage has not been updated, that means there's nothing to do with uboot and uImage, but rfs_816x has been updated. So I don't know in which case the  Kernel version will mismatch syslink module version ?  how can I update both kernel and syslink module?

  • You are probably mounting the wrong rootfs .Check the syslink build date and time and your kernel build date and time and confirm they are same as working version.

  •  hello,Badri.Thanks for your help !  maybe I have found the problems.

           The reasons may be presented as follows:

          1 . check the Rules.make<../dvrrdk/DVRRDK_04.01.00.02/dvr_rdk/Rules.make>,

             make sure:    ifeq ($(DVR_RDK_BOARD_TYPE ), )
                                          DVR_RDK_BOARD_TYPE := DM816X_TI_EVM
                                   endif

                                  DM816X_TI_EXM   is  my board_type

             and reset  dvr_rdk_BASE :    ifeq ($(OS),Linux)
                                                                      dvr_rdk_BASE     := /home/erik/dvrrdk/DVRRDK_04.01.00.02
                                                                      TI_SW_ROOT       := $(dvr_rdk_BASE)/ti_tools
                                                           endif

                               dvr_rdk_BASE  is the  file path

           2.  make and install the  rdk

                                do  as DM81xx_DVR_RDK_Install_Guide.pdf

                                 do not forget any steps

    Hope it helpful for others , and wish your success~
