C6678 Boot options

We are planning on using I2C boot option to load images from Nor/Nand. Our system will be deployed in the field and internet connectivity only available on demand (by request).

If we use this option, will we be able to update the Nor/Nand images remotely by connecting the device to the network?. is there a pc-based application to program the Nor/nand without using CCS?...if so, what interface it uses?

PS: each core will have different image

Hi Murad,

You should be able to create a utility to update the contents of the NOR/NAND by connecting the device to the network.This may require your application to sense an flashing application and boot image that comes over the ethernet or have the abitlity to boot in the ethernet boot mode in such a way that the image can loaded from the server. The current MCSDK offering doesn`t provide a utility to program the NOR/NAND without CCS.

Each core having a different image shouldn`t matter in this case as the boot table will need to be combined while creating the boot image.

I've been reading about DSS and "program_evm" within MCSDK. it seems that these tools are used to program the Flash without CCS!?

Hi Rahul,

If I got it correctly you can set the device boot mode to ethernet, then the device will get the new image and burn it to the flash? Then the device could boot up with the new image from flash? If so, can you give some tips of how to do this without using CCS/Emulator?
