Use 816x EVM just for DSP C674x part

Can I use 816x evm just for DSP part without dealing with ARM portion? Basically, host PC has CCS5 and a JTAG connects the host and the evm. So my DSP program can be loaded onto the evm, executed and debugged. Is it possible? Where can I find the procedure to setup the 816x evm board, including configuring the dip switches on the board?

Alex,

This fairly simple. You try to connect JTAG to DM816x using CCS and you can connect to the DSP core by right clicking on the DSP in the list of cores that CCS shows. Once you connect to the DSP, you can use load program to load your executable and run (F8).

Hi Renjith,

Since DM816x has two cores (ARM and DSP), should I connect ARM first? I tried to ignore ARM core and connect DSP core. I encountered a connect error. If I connect ARM first, I need a proper gel file associated with the target configuration file. Where can I get or how can I create the gel file? My board is 816x EVM and JTAG is XDS510 USB. Both are made by Spectrum Digital.

Alex,

You'll get the GEL file provided by TI as part of EZSDK release package.Alternatively you can download it from the spectrum digital website. Please make sure that you download the GEL for the right revision of your board.
