Interfacing 8bit Parallel LCD

Hi,

I am new to this community. We are working on AM3352. We have LCD with 8bit parallel interface with 16 BPP.

In TI Technical reference manual http://www.ti.com/general/docs/litabsmultiplefilelist.tsp?literatureNumber=spruh73h

in page no 1107, Micro Interface graphic display is mentioned, in which data pins are 16 [0:15] for processor but our LCD have 8 data pins only [0,7].

So how to connect these LCD 8 data pins [0:7] to controller 16 data pins [0:15].

Are there any reference circuits available.

Hi,

Just connect corresponding bits. There are 16 LCD data pins available, because the address/data registers are 16-bit, but you can write 8-bit values in them.

Thanks for reply.

But our LCD have only 8 data pins, so shall i connect first 8 pins of Processor LCD_DATA[7:0] to our LCD data pins DATA[7:0] and leaving remaining Processor pins i.e LCD_DATA[15:8].

Hi Biser Gatchev,

Thanks for reply.

We are working on AM335x starter kit and planning to replace the 24 bit RGB LCD that comes with Starter Kit with our 8Pin Parallel LCD using 8 pins i.e LCD_DATA[7:0] of processor.

So can i use remaining 16 pins i.e LCD_DATA[23:8] as GPIOs for other purposes.
