configure minicom to connect to EVM6678 from serial port

I have connected serial port of EVM6678 to PC (Ubuntu 12.04, with the included cable) and configure the minicom as follow :

minicom -s
Serial port Setup
Serial Device : /dev/ttyS0
Bps/Par/Bits : 115200 8N1
Enter
exit

and i have set the Switch on the EVM to boot From Linux

but after power on the EVM nothing display on the minicom!

whats the problem? do I need any special Serial Driver?

Hi, Dido,

No, you don't need any driver. Make sure the Hardware Flow Control is off. If it still does not work, it may have something to do with the host machine set up. You may be able to find answers on internet by search "minicom not displaying".

you are right the Hardware Flow Control was on,

Now i can connect to board via usb cable (and /dev/ttyUSB0 device), but still cant connect to the board via serial port(/dev/ttyS0)

is any thing send to usb port is also sent to serial port?

Hi, Dido,

Please check in the Hardware setup guide within the C6678 User's Guide in http://www.advantech.com/Support/TI-EVM/6678le_sd.aspx. Make sure the jumper setting is correct if you want to use the serial port for console.
