Hello,
it is possible to connect ONE c6678evm to a PC by PCIe with the adapter card.
Is it also possible to connect FOUR c6678evm to a PC ?
Thank you.

Hello Roelof,
Not sure how helpful this is, but Advantech has development boards available with four DSPs and PCIe connections.
here is the link:

Hi Roelof,
For question 1, yes it's possible. Check this: http://www.ti.com/tool/tmdxevmpci
For question 2 I only know the board that BrandyJ pointed to.
Hello,
thank you for the answers. I wonder if it would work when we connect 4 adapter boards to 4 PCIe x4 slots. We allready have an Intel-Kind-Mainboard supporting so much PCIe and we also habe 4 c6678 evm here.
By the way: Advantech told me they will not go in production with the 4 DSP board last year. This card might be kind of a marketing ghost ... or they changed their mind. I will ask them again, thanks.
Have a nice day,
Roelof
I am not sure what Advantech meant by "going in production", but I am holding one in my hands that we obtained at the beginning of 2012.
Anyhow, it was just a thought if you hadn't had a hardware product already in mind.
That's really good to hear. I will call Advantech. Thanks :)
Is anyone here who can tell me wether connecting several C6678 EVM (with the adapter) on several PCIe slots in one PC is likely possible ?
It can be done with an AMC chassis right? So if you can get enough power wouldn't it be similar on the PC?
Advantech has multiple C6678 PCIe cards in production. They have both a Quad board and an Octal board. All of the C6678 devices on these boards are behind a PCIe switch. They have also demonstrated operation with several of these cards in a PC chassis operating simultaneously for complex tasks like high-end video processing.
Similarly, multiple C6678 EVMs mounted on PCIe adapter cards can be plugged into a single PC. There is no electrical problem with this. There are configuration and computer issues that must be understood. Advantech had to overcome this with their implementations. I beleive that certain PCs have limited memory windows available for PCIe regions. The PCIe endpoint (C6678) must have the BAR registers set appropriately so that the PC memory is shared appropriately.

Good point, I understand what you mean. I will give it a try and post our results here.
Thanks a lot BrandyJ,
Roelof
Thanks Tom, excellent answer.
We finally ordered a DSPC-8681 from Advantech. It costs about 2k euros which is still within our research budget and the manual looked promising to be able to start quickly. Can't wait to have it in my hands :D
