Does OMAP35xx have a Cross Trigger Interface (CTI)?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530

Hi guys,

I would like to know whether OMAP35xx chips have Cross Trigger Interface (CTI) which is one of CoreSight debugging components. ARM Cortex-A8 documentation does describe CTI and it says it is an optional component. TI OMAP docs do not mention CTI at all.

Please let me know if anyone has information.

I am planning to buy beagleboard with OMAP3530 for my research, but if it does not have CTI it will be useless for me.

Thanks in advance.

  • My suspicion like yours is that OMAP35xx does not, as I do not see it mentioned in any of the documentation either.

To go one step further the descriptions of CTI from here seem to indicate you need additional JTAG pins for cross trigger functionality, which is likely not possible with the OMAP3 given that it has only two EMU pins, meaning it uses a TI 14 pin JTAG header. The CTI headers shown on that same page all appear to be 20 pin which is not available on the Beagle Board or OMAP3.

  • Hi Bernie

Thanks for your reply. I also found a ROM table dump here which lists all available CoreSight components on Cortex-A8 (beagleboard). CTI is not listed and thus not present.

Could you please suggest any other boards/chips which has the CTI component and can run Linux.

    Thanks.

  • If you are looking for Cortex-A8 than I do not believe anything from TI will have this capability at present. I was thinking that the ARM9 based DM6446 may have had this but it also seems to only have two EMU pins and I see no mention of CTI or cross trigger interface in the documentation, though it does have a 20 pin JTAG connector more suited for this capability.
