AM3703CUS SD Card Init Failing

Hi,

I am trying to boot my AM3703CUS SoC from a micro SD card. It appear to work occasionally (5% of the time). Sometimes MLO (x-loader) won't even load sometimes it does and fails to load u-boot. Usually after a successful boot resetting the board seems to work and the SD card has no more problems initializing. Another strange problem is that if I decide to boot from NAND flash and set my jumper back to SD boot it seems to work after a reset. Am I doing something wrong? How can I troubleshoot this thing?

Hi Eric,

Can you try with a different freshly repartitioned SD card? This one may be faulty.

Okay I will try that again but I already tried that many times before.

Often I will get an error like:

Texas Instruments X-Loader 1.46 (Jul 11 2013 - 16:18:12)
Starting X-loader on MMC

MMC init failed
X-Loader hangs

Other times I get junk on the serial and x-loader doesn't load anything:

@� @ @QT,0@ � ��tذb�$U

I tried to debug x-loader but it fails in all kinds of places for example sending this command it fails:

MMC_ACMD41

I noticed once that is detected as MMC instead of SD_CARD but it seems rare.

Hi,

If you have tried booting with another SD card, there is no need to do it once more. This may be a hardware issue. Unfortunately our hardware engineer is currently on vacation. I would suggest measuring the MMC signals with an oscilloscope although I'm not sure how this would explain the junk on the serial line.
