problem in /dev directory

Hai

I'm Sekar,When i insert my external SD card in my board,it doesn't shows up in /dev directory of linux rootfs file system.

Via debug port - i list the mounted devices in /dev folder,mt external SD card is not in the list...Why???

Thankyou

  • Hi Sekra,

    Do you mean that you do not have these in the list:

    target:/dev# ls

    mmcblk0
    mmcblk0p1
    mmcblk0p2

    Are you booting your board via SD card? What are your bootargs?

    BR
    Pavel

  • Yes patel i didn't see my external SD card partitons

    mmcblk1

    mmcblk1p1

    mmcblk1p2

    not internal SD card,These are shown below /dev directory

    mmcblk0
    mmcblk0p1
    mmcblk0p2

     My bootargs are.....

    baudrate=115200

    console=ttyO2,115200n8

    mmcroot=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw

    mmcrootfstype=ext3 rootwait

    I'm waiting for your reply....

  • Hi Sekra,

    What is your device?

    I am with DM814x device, and I have only one, external SD card with two partitions (boot and rootfs). And I see these as:

    target:/dev# ls

    mmcblk0  -----> First SD card
    mmcblk0p1 --> First partition on first SD card
    mmcblk0p2 --> Second partition on first SD card

    Do you mean that you have two SD cards, one internal and one external? And you did not see nor internal neither external SD card under target:/dev# directory?

  • Hai

    I had my own custom board( by own ) developed from Beagleboard XM.In my board i had two SD card slots.one is internal - used for bootable SD card, Second one is external- for peripheral functioning.

    Internal-shows up

    External - doesn't shows up in /dev directory.

    Why???I'm using linux OS with two partitions as like you.....

    Thankyou

  • Sekra,

    Does the external SD shows up in the target:/media# directory?

    BR
    Pavel

  • No Pavel...

    If the drive ( SD card ) mount in /dev directory then only it shows in /media folder otherwise it doesn't...

    my hardware were fine but it doesn't detect the external sd card.I want to know why my card doesn't mounted on /dev directory.

    Thanks

  • Sekra,

    Do you insert the external SD card before power up the board? Or you want to have hot plug, and insert the SD card after the board is up? If your case is hot plug, I am afraid I can not help you further.

    Pavel

  • Yep..You r right,you will be ready to afraid...

    I'm playing with hot-pluging functionality in my board.

    My external card is detected when i boot the board along with external SD card but hot-plug doesn't detected.

    I played with MMC-CD pin but no use..

    If u had any experience in this ..please analyse it,otherwise convey this to your community members too.

    Thankyou bro...
