  • Arun,

What is your SDK? Are you on EZSDK 5.05.02.00?

You have at least MLO, u-boot.bin and uImage files in the /media/BOOT partition of the SD card, right?

Make sure you configured the EVM S1 switches for SD boot: 1, 2, 3, 5 = ON; all other switches OFF.

    BR
    Pavel

  • Pavel,

Mine EZSDK is 5_03_00_09. And I checked the SD Card on host PC ( Ubantu) via card reader and it showed three folder and under BOOT Folder all files are there which you have asked for.

    • START_HERE -
    • ROOTFS
    • Boot

    1. boot.cmd
    2. boot.scr
    3. MLO
    4. README.boot.scr
    5. u-boot.bin
    6. uImage
    7. windows_users.htm ,
    8. Note :  Please Note that EVM was booting from original SD initially and this when EVM was booting from I manually interrupted the autoboot to get the login of the EVM and it hangup. Now after each cycle it only showing the "Auto Negotiation Failed". Please Guide me.
    9. Regards,

  • Pavel,

I have executed the above instruction the GUI Matrix has come on LCD screen and Kernel has started. And EVM Login has come .

Note : When I am booting again the EVM same Error is coming, " Auto negotiation failed" . Do I need to save somewhere ?

    Please Guide me further....

  • Arun,

I will recommend you to download and use the latest EZSDK 5.05.02.00 available at the TI web site. Then we have a special script for creating bootable SD cards. You should run this script over your SD card. Refer to ti-ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_05_02_00/docs/DM814x_EZ_Software_Developers_Guide.pdf section 6.6 How to create an SD card

    Pavel

  • Hi Pavel,

Please guide me what are command I need to run on host PC after downloading the  EZSDK 5.05.02.00 ?. I have tried to make new SD Card from existing EZSDK, its behaving in same way.

DO I need to run {EZSDK}/setup.sh ? , I feel that this is only require in case of /tftp boot and NFS Boot.

    Waiting for the response.

    1. Download the EZSDK installer for your platform - in our case, ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_05_02_00_setuplinux executable file

    2. If necessary make the installer executable manually by executing:

        chmod +x ezsdk_myplatform-evm_5_xx_xx_xx_setuplinux

    3. Execute the installer on the host and follow the instructions:
        ./ezsdk_myplatform-evm_5_xx_xx_xx_setuplinux

    4. Plug an SD card on Linux host machine.

    5. Run dmesg command to check the device node. Triple check this to ensure you do not damage your
    HDD contents!
On my Linux PC, the SD card is detected on /dev/sdb

    6. Run mksdboot script installed in EZ SDK as show below
    host $ sudo ${EZSDK}/bin/mksdboot.sh --device /dev/sdb --sdk ${EZSDK}

Wait for script to complete. On successful completion, remove the SD card from the host PC.

Now the SD card should have two partitions: /media/BOOT and /media/ROOTFS

For booting from SD card with the mksdboot.sh script, no.

  • Pavel,

I have installed the new EZSDK on host PC and prepare the SD Card as command. I did not run the last command written by you, "

For booting from SD card with the mksdboot.sh script, no.". - what is this. Also I checked that SD CARD is having two partition /media/BOOT and /media/ROOTFS.

Please is status when I plug the SD card to EVM and boot up the EVM.

I mean you do not need to run the {EZSDK}/setup.sh script for your use case (booting from MMC/SD card). Anyway you can run this {EZSDK}/setup.sh script also, it will not damage your bootable SD card. What I mean is that this {EZSDK}/setup.sh is not mandatory when booting from MMC/SD card.

The PSP supports both 8 and 16 bit NAND flash. To use 16-bit NAND, set the CS0BW (buswidth) switch on the EVM to ON state. CS0BW switch is the 8th Pin on the EVM Boot Mode Switch.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Can you try with 1,2,3,5,6,8 = ON, rest all OFF.

    Also SW2 (NAND/SPI boot) 1=ON, 2=OFF.

  • Pavel,

Now nothing is happening based on given configuration by you. Blank on minicom.

    Waiting for quick further guidance.

    Regards,

    Arun Taneja

  • Arun,

    Let me clarify something.

Now you have nothing on the minicom (blank on minicom) or you have some initial messages and the flow stuck at the "MMC:   OMAP SD/MMC: 0" line?

    BR

  • Pavel,

When I changed the Boot switch setting i.e

    1,2,3,5,6,8 = ON and all offf and SW 2 = 1 ON, 2 = Off,

    Minicom was blank.

I suspect this is Minicom issue, as these boot switch settings are working fine for me.

Is your baud rate set to 115200? Is your port set to /dev/ttyUSB0?

  • Arun,

Now minicom works and the flow stuck at the "MMC: OMAP SD>MMC: 0" line, is that correct?

If yes, the problem seems to be in the u-boot.bin file. Have you made any modifications in the u-boot source code? Are you using the u-boot.bin that was automatically placed in the /media/BOOT partition of your SD card by the mksdboot.sh script? What is the size of your SD card?

    Best regards,
    Pavel

  • Pavel,

Yes you are right, minicom is working fine and flow stuck at "MMC: OMAP SD>MMC: 0" line.

I haven't change any thing to u-boot source code and wutomatically created  and size of SD card is 8 GB.

    Please Guide me further.

  • Arun,

This is quite strange. I am booting successfully with the settings already provided.

Can you try to boot from UART (not SD card). If you boot from UART with success, then most probably the SD card has something wrong.

For UART boot, you should remove the SD card from the slot, and configure the BOOT MODE SEL switch, pin 1 is ON, 2,3,4,5 are OFF.

After that you should generate 1st stage bootloader (u-boot.min.uart) and 2nd stage bootloader (u-boot.bin). Refer to the below wiki page to see how:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/TI81XX_PSP_UBOOT_User_Guide#Building_U-Boot

You can also use mine, I am attaching them: http://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/716/6761.u_2D00_boot.min.uart  http://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/716/0246.u_2D00_boot.bin

You can place them in your Desktop folder. Then start the console from Desktop like this:

    pbotev@pbotev:~/Desktop$ sudo picocom -b 115200 /dev/ttyUSB0 --send-cmd "sx -vv"

    Then you should have:

    port is        : /dev/ttyUSB0
    flowcontrol    : none
    baudrate is    : 115200
    parity is      : none
    databits are   : 8

  • Pavel,

I have tried the above commands are working fine and I have used your file and some error has also come mentioned below after completion of the process . I have kept 1= ON, 2,3,4,5,6...12 = off

Hit any key to stop autoboot:  0
Card did not respond to voltage select!

** Unable to use mmc 0:1 for fatload **
In case ENV on MMC/SD is required

  • Arun,

I suspect that your SD card is corrupted. Can you try with new SD card, and run the ${EZSDK}/bin/mksdboot.sh scipt over the new SD card.

You can also try with :

    TI8148_EVM# mmc rescan 0

    TI8148_EVM# fatload mmc 0 0x80009000 uImage

    TI8148_EVM# bootm 0x80009000

    Best regards,
