CCS Installation problem...

Hi all,

I want to install the CCS into my wife's laptop...and the installation instructions say that I must turn off any antivirus software.  I can't see how to turn off the McAfee antivirus software...I've looked through the "help" and right-clicked the application icon...nothing!  I can turn off the firewall, but not the scanning.  Can I just go ahead and install the CCS?  Is there any danger of hosing up her machine?

Thanks!

Robert

  • I don't use McAfee so I cannot really speak for any particular instructions, but a quick Google search turned up a few ways maybe this one would help.

You can certainly try, it may still go through properly, disabling the antivirus is more of a precaution to help ensure a successful install, CCS makes a lot of registry modifications and it can get blocked by some of the more strict antivirus tools.

With installing anything there is always the potential of complications, though this would be fairly rare, generally if installing CCS caused host PC problems than there was probably already something seriously wrong in the first place (i.e. virus, malware, corruption, etc). In general the disabling of the antivirus is more to make CCS itself more likely to work that it is to prevent damage to the host PC.
