USB issue?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3874

Hi,

My customer has a strange issue.

They are using AM3874 and OS is windows Compact7.

WEC7 is booting some kinds of driver software when OS booting.
But now they have an issue with USB driver woriking.

Failure symptom:

* Some error happens, but OS is still working.

* OS haa hang up, and system can't operate

* Screen was black out.

Failure status○

* If USB K/B is not connected to the system's USB port, its system has some failure after half hour working.

 * If USB K/B is connected to the system when booting, the system never happened the failures.

 * If USB K/B is connected tto the system until K/B LED is turned on, and after that its K/B is disconnected to

the system. In this case, the system never happened the failures.

 * If USB K/B is connecting to the system,  the system never happened the failure.

I think this symptom shows USB module has some issue. How do you think this case?

Also our customer's WEC7 system has other issue. Please see the below E2E page.

This issue also has not been solved.

I appreciate your quick reply.

Best regards,

Michi

  • Hi

I have not worked with WinCE. But based on your description, it looks like you have issue with or without connecting the usb keyboard.

    1) first compile USB component. check whether system is stable and you dont see any issue?

    2) If no issue without USB , then include USB + PIO mode (disable the DMA mode option) and check if any functional issue you have observed? If yes then look into where exactly there is failure.

    3) USB bus traces could help what is happening exactly in the system with respect to USB?

    Regard
