Dual channel I2C to UART HUB for Bluetooth

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1808, TMS320C6748, OMAP-L138

Hi All,

I have limited 3 UARTs available in my AM1808. I would like to use another UART for TIWI-R2 Bluetooth module. I have selected and used I2C to dual UART expander from EXAR part i.e XR20M1172IG28TR IC.

Could you have any related driver which I can access via i2c to uart, So that I can access all the Bluetooth commands over this i2c to uart interface.

Please find attached my schematic for interfacing this to my TIWI-R2.

Please need your suggestions..

Thanks,

Lofna

  • Hi Lofna,

We don’t have specific driver for I2C to UART converter.

But you can refer the I2C starter ware example for TI sitara processors.

    http://www.ti.com/tool/starterware-sitara

And also refer the Logic PD OMAP-L138/TMS320C6748/AM1808 Board Support Library (BSL) sample programs.

    http://www.logicpd.com/products/system-on-modules/am1808-som-m1/#documentation

In that package please refer the ARM eXp LED_DIP Test example in which they use I2C to GPIO expander to control with LED&DIP switch. You can try to use the same logic to communicate with the XR20M1172IG28TR. You need to modify the code little bit to suit the I2C address, clock frequency, and XR20M1172IG28TR control /Read/Write register.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    Antony
