uBoot issue on Sitara AM1810

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1810

Hai,

We were using Sitara AM1810 processor, for this we interfaced DDR2 of 128MB.

When we power the board we were seeing "BOOTME" message on the console

Then we compiled the u-boot for AM1810 with the below configuration

make da850evm_config

make

it generated the u-boot.elf & u-boot.bin

Using AIS.gen tool we generated u-boot-ais.bin file using u-boot.elf, when we load u-boot-ais.bin file through UART Host, we were not seeing any messages on console.

We tried by changing DDR2 timing parameters still there are no messages on console

Then we added some led on/off logic at start-up, but still there is no change.

Kindly let me know your inputs.

Thanks,

Srinivas

  • Hi Srinivas,

Are you testing this board for the first time?

Have you tried connecting the Emulator and see which place it gets stuck?

Are you able to read the boot configuration register value to see the processor recognized the boot modes properly upon power up you Up?

Have tried connecting the board through the Emulator and try to access the DDR memory location Read/Write with the GEL Script?

Apart from DDR timing parameter have you checked the PLL, PINMUX, Boot modes other configuration properly in the AIS.gen?

Have tried using the same U-boot.bin in the other working board if any or EVM?

Please give me some more information on this

    Regards

    Antony

  • We were testing the Board for the First Time. Currently we dont have the Emulator with us to debug the board.

In our design, we are using TI Processor (AM1810BZWTA3) for our applications.

When Bootmode pins are set to UART2 Boot mode, when we reset or power on the board, we can able to see “Bootme” message in console.

We compiled the U-boot for AM1810 with below configuration make da850evm_config; it generated U-boot.elf & U-boot.bin.

By using AIS gen tool, the following parameters are provided for generation of U-boot.bin

The timing parameters are calculated with respect to DDR2 device (MT47H128M16RT-25E IT:C), by using mDDR_DDR2_Memory_Controller_Register_Calc_Rev4.xls

As per requirement Pinmux are selected provided in AIS-gen pinmux tab.

The generated U-boot.bin file loaded to Processor through UART Boot Host. There is no messages on console.

Then we added some LED On\Off logic at startup, but still there is no change.

Kindly let me know your inputs.

    Thanks,

    Srinivas

  • Hi Srinivas,

See map file to check the program location as you expected. For example, Improper DRAM configuration & program download into DRAM area, it may fail. If PSC not turn on, the peripheral will not work.

Please refer the below thread for similar kind of UART boot Host issues

Hope you’ve gone through the AM18x boot loader document
