About AM335x pulse generation

Hi,

I have a question about AM335x.

Is there any peripheral that can output pulse?
And is it available to setup the pulse frequency and the number of output pulses?
By the way the duty is 50%.

I understand that eCAP can output the pulse by using APWM operating mode.
But I don't know how to setup the pulse frequency and the number of output pulses.

Hi,

There is several ways to generate pulses on AM335x different pins.

My be the simplest way is to use the PWM output feature of the DMtimers via PORTIMERPWM output. It is described in the TRM in section 20.1 DMTimer p.4089. Number of output pulse you can control via interrupts.

Other peripherial with such a purpose are PWMSS modules described in TRM 15.1 Pulse-Width Modulation Subsystem (PWMSS) see also section 15.2 Enhanced PWM (ePWM) Module. The pulse period and duty cycle are managed through ePWM registers.

If you want just to toggle one pin by software any GPIO will do.
