Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DM385

Hello, I'm working in a startup company working with wireless connectivity products. We have a potential customer looking at a wearable video camera that handle 1080p at 60 fps recording in h264 or (not simultaneously) wifi streaming with low resolution. Most likely a RAW sensor will be used.

Do the DM8148 seem like a reasonable choice for this? This will be battery powered.

Could I use the DM385 instead, and what is the difference compared to DM8148? I did not find as much info about the DM385 as about the DM8148.

  • Valter,

DM385 is a derivative product of DM814x with one less DDR, no DSP and graphics.

In this application you may not need DSP and graphics and in that case it makes more sense to use DM385. DM385 will be cheaper and slightly lower power.

It will be nice to hear more about this opportunity, if possible you can also contact TI marketting or message me directly for this discussion.

  • Hello Rajat,

Ah yes, you are spot on! The application does not require DSP nor grapics, so the DM385 does indeed seem to be the best choice. Thanks for your answer.

    Best regards
