Sorry if this is a simple question but this is all new to me.

I need to change the boot argument for my AM3517 EVM to enable the DVI monitor. The 2.1 Dev Kit says to change the boot arguments.

Can I change these on the Out of the Box images? If so how? If not could some one help me change them please?

Hi Andrew,

Try changing prebuilt image boot arguments with the mentioned in below link.

Hi Pankaj,

Yes that's the doc I am following. I know what to change, its the how I don't understand. I have used grub before but not u-boot. Do I have to recompile u-boot? Isn't there just a script I can change or do I rerun make?

After days of grief due to a bad SD card reader I know know lots about fdisk, sfdisk and cfdisk and I can finally program an SD card with my modified boot args (used mkmmcscr).

I used these arguments, but it doesn't work :-(

console=ttyO2,115200n8 androidboot.console=ttyO2 mem=256M root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw rootfstype=ext3 rootdelay=1 init=/init ip=off omapfb.mode= dvi:1024x768MR-16 omapdss.def_disp="dvi" vram=8M omapfb.vram=0:8M

Just though I 'd keep this post up to date with my progress.

It works!!!!

Wow all those frustrating hours have finally paid off!

Now I have the eval board working with DVI on my TV, I just need to get the Hitachi LCD working on my real target....
