We are in investigation stage of using EtherCAT technology for our product. We need to build EoE switchport-like slave device and also master device that supports both EtherCAT redundancy and interconnection with Ethernet network. All that requirements make it necessary to have 3 Ethernet ports on the master or the slave (two for EtherCAT and one for interconnection). Since the AM3x processor already has two, I need one more. Anyone has suggestions on how to add a third Ethernet port to the AM3x processor? I am looking for a simplest solution. What I can do is to use a Stellaris MCU (with Enet support) and interface with the AM3x by SPI or USB. Is there a better solution?
