Hi,

I read the bootloader documentation for c5535 (http://www.ti.com/lit/an/sprabl7a/sprabl7a.pdf). Acording to this c5535 should suport booting from USB.

Are there any software available that can send the boot image to the DSP in this mode? In the documentation there is a link to sprabl7.zip, containing a file called usb_boot.exe. But the does not seem to work properly.

Are there any more information to be had about how to boot via USB on the c5535?

Hi,

I know how to create boot images and how to program a external flash with them so that the c5535 can boot from flash.

However, I'm interested in booting from USB instead. This is the functionality I can't find any more information about.

I succeed in starting the c5535 in USB boot mode. I can see it popping up as "TMSC5505" in the device manager.

It seems I need two things to be able to boot this way though. First i need some kind of USB driver for windows? Secondly I need some kind of software to send the boot image over the bulk USB protocol to the DSP. The "usb_boot.exe" linked from the booloader documentation does not seem to work though.

At the moment I do not have an encrypted boot image. Would this be necessary?

Sorry. My bad. C5535 does not requires encrypted boot image for USB, only C5515.

I can get the usb_boot.exe from the following link in the TMS320C5535/34/33/22 Booloader Application Note's link:

Yes me to, but I does not work.

If I run it in command prompt in windows it says: DriverInit: failed to initialize USB driver: error 0x20000007 ("Internal system error")

Can you see the wdapi1010.dll in the zip? iF YES, This is the instruction to install this host driver. Sorry about this confusion, we are working on the licensing/legal in order to allow this tools be download via public site.

1. Install the C5505USB_EP driver on the Host PC (WinXP)

1.0. open a DOS command window and type in the following commands
1.1. wdreg -inf C5505USB_EP_driver.inf install
1.2. wdreg -inf C5505USB_EP_device.inf preinstall
1.3. copy "wdapi1010.dll" to %windir%\system32

Normally the %windir%\system32 directory is C:\WINDOWS\system32
if you want to make sure the directory location, you can do following under window
Start (on the bottom-left corner of the PC) -> Run -> %windir%\system32

the zip contains wdapi1010.dll, but no C5505USB_EP_driver.inf.
