RMAN Assign resouce fail

Hi,

I am trying to integrate Decoder and Encoder on c66x platform,

Right Now i am able to run Encoder and Decoder standalone but when i try to integrate both of them i.e first Decoder and then encoder, Decoder RAM_assignResource Fails with NO_ERESOURCE Error, Can any one help me in managing RMAN for Encoder and Decoder.

I have attached my Encoder Decoder create and process file.

My call are Encoder init then decoder init followed by decoder process.8306.transcoder.c

Hi Tushar,

Please use scratch Id of 0 instead of -1 for the corresponding RMAN calls. -1 scratch ID indicates persistent resource allocation, and therefore it returns no resource error when assigning resource to decoder.

With scratch ID of 0, please also add the following lines in .cfg file if they didn't exist before:

/* Use scratch group 0 and specify the maximum number of PaRAM sets,
TCCs, EDMA channels, QDMA channels for the group */
META.maxPaRams[0] = 80;
META.maxTccs[0] = 8;
META.maxEdmaChannels[0] = 8;
META.maxQdmaChannels[0] = 0;

Please let us know if the above changes resolve the problem or not.

Hi, I have done same thing now it return error in RMAN assign resource of encoder it self, so i cant go beyond, Can u please explain me how RMAN works for two codec so it will help me. Thanks Tushar

Hi Tushar,

It looks like RMAN_init() is called twice in your application. Please comment out the first one in start(). Can you please also provide the file which defines EDMA_Instance_config array and your .cfg file?

When using RMAN for two codecs (actually two codec instances), a single scratch group is used so that both codec instances on a core can share the same EDMA resources, e.g., EDMA channels, PaRAM sets, and etc.

Hi Hongmei,

I have attached edma.h file containing array of EDMA_instance_config , and also attached .cfg file

Please check it.

I have commented first RMAN_init function which is in start, Still having same issue.

Hi Tushar,

Thanks for the files. Both .cfg file and the emdaConfig array look fine if you are using scratch group of 0 in transcoder.c.

In your transcoder.c, you have algActivate and algDeactivate around the RMAN assign/activate calls for the encoder. Can you please do the same for the decoder, i.e.,

AlgActivate

RMAN_assignResources

RMAN_activateAllResources

algDeactivate
