simple.eth file build issue for ethernet boot on tms320c6670

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6670

Dear Sir,

I am trying to build simple.eth file which is required for TMS320C6670 ethernet boot. I failed in the below step :

          * When I run simple.bat file in command prompt I received an error as
`make` is not recognized as an internal or external command operable program or batch file
          * make.exe is required to build simple.eth file so downloaded make-3.79.tar file
          * In order to generate make.exe I tried to compile make-3.79, below error I received in command prompt
'nmake' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file
          * so when I searched to resolve the above issue I found an answer which sets the environment variable                      PATH to microsoft visual studio 2008 where we can find nmake.exe.
          * I set this path in environment variables and run, below error I received in command prompt.
                       NMAKE :  fatal error U1077: `"C:\Program Files <x86>\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\bin\cl.EXE"` :                                                                                                                                    return code `0xc0000135`      stop.
                       NMAKE :  fatal error U1077: `"C:\Program Files <x86>\Microsoft Visual Stdio 9.0\VC\bin\nmake.EXE"` :                                                                                                                                                     return code `0x2`      stop.
           * I tried to resolve the above error, but I couldn't find proper answer for the same.
Please help me in solving the above issue.
Regards,
Krupa

  • Hello!

We expect issuing make command will do the job with makefiles, but that requires environment to be set uniformly. When I was in your situation, I've just looked inside makefile to understand what it is doing. Tweaking path variables did not helped me, so I literally executed command one by one. See target simple.obj: in makefile. It uses cl6x compiler to make object file. So being in simple folder I typed something like

    c:\ti\ccsv5\tools\compiler\c6000\bin\cl6x -g -c -k -mi200 -ml3 -pm -mv6400 simple.s

You'll see simple.obj there. Next build out module like

    c:\ti\ccsv5\tools\compiler\c6000\bin\cl6x -z simple.cmd -o simple.out -m simple.map

    and you'll get simple.out.

Next see commands simple.eth target, so you'll have to locate your hes6x and run commands like

    c:\ti\ccsv5\tools\compiler\c6000\bin\hex6x simple.rmd

and you will get boot table. Next you call bconvert64x and bootpacket utilities to convert boot table using similar way. Just make sure you're able doing these steps. Next, of course, you might with to have some automation with batch file.

  • Hi Krupa,

Please try to build this under minGW and setting the path to the make package.
