DM814x CAD symbols discrepancy?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM8148

Hi Champs,

Could you please comment on this apparent discrepancy?

With reference to the CAD symbol for DaVinci Media Processor(TMS320DM8148) available on http://webench.ti.com/cad/dlbxl.cgi/TI_BXL/TMS320DM8148_CYE_684.bxl , when the Pin-out on the symbol is referenced to that available in the respective datasheet, certain discrepancies have been discovered.  These discrepancies are consistent in the footprint also. Enlisted below are all of the mismatches found by us,

It is further requested to check the files for errors apart from those which we could discover and have mentioned above, and intimate us about the changes made or part updated and available for download.

Is this the same CAD file as the one available from the official TI web site?

    http://www.ti.com/product/TMS320DM8148

    CAD/CAE Symbols  -> CAD File (.bxl) -> Download -> TMS320DM8148_CYE_684.bxl

  • Hi Feroz and Pavel

Please refer to the CAD part available at the product page, it is still not updated yet.

So I don't think this query has been answered yet. Pavel, please look at the pinout in the datasheet and in the CAD symbol. The discrepancies still languish.

Please refer to the attached image file

I've just mentioned one example here, rest you can refer from the Feroz's post. Please reply asap, as our design is stuck because of this mismatch.

    With Regards

No one closed this thread (marked as answered), we are still discussing. I have just asked Feroz if this is the same file. Now you confirm it is the same file, right?

My opinion is that the DM814x datasheet is the correct source of information. You can have a look in the DM814x EVM (from Mistral) schematics. The DM814x EVM schematics are aligned with the DM814x datasheet. The DM814x EVM schematics can be downloaded from the Mistral website:

    http://www.mistralsolutions.com/pes-support/support-downloads/tmdxevm8148.html#

I am also attaching the schematic: 7357.MS_TI_DM814x_BB_REVD_SCH.pdf

You can also compare with our pinmux tool, available at:

    {EZSDK}/board-support/host-tools/pinmux_utils/

I will try to find the CAD file owner and discuss all this with him.

    Regards,
    Pavel

  • Feroz,

Please have a look on the below E2E thread:

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/davinci_digital_media_processors/int-dm814x/f/720/p/259848/1037144.aspx#1037144

You will find the new TM320DM8148_CYE_684.bxl that the vendor corrected. You can provide it to Atin.

    Regards,
    Pavel
