OMAP4470 + TWL6032 deep sleep current consumption

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TWL6032, POWEREST

HI!

I am working on the OMAP4470 and TWL6032 pmic,

TWL6032 has stated( data manual page, 38.) that at sleep mode is at 110uA with enabled only the SMPS2 and SMPS3 LDO's.

on OMAP4470  I cant locate on its data manual its minimum current consumption and voltage during deep sleep mode, can someone guide me or at least provide me a link on if there is.

thanks!

  • Hello Antonio,

You can obtain an example estimation for OMAP4470 current consumption in OFF mode as use information presented in OMAP4470 Data Manual and Operating Condition Addendum.

In Data Manual are presented the recommended current values.

Information about voltage level in different OPPs is described in OMAP4470 Operating Condition Addendum available at http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swpu325/swpu325.pdf . See tables which show voltage settings in retention mode for three different voltage domains (vdd_core, vdd_iva, vdd_mpu).

If you need more accurate information about consumption in OFF mode, contact with TI sales representative.

  • hi Yanko,

Thanks for your reply, i already took OMAP4470 data manual but i still want the near exact value of its deep sleep

mode power consumption to select the battery capacity value that will give 2 to 3 days backup power for OMAP4470 in deep sleep mode  when remove from its main external power source. Do you have any rough estimate on the power consumption deep sleep mode or battery capacity that will provide power for 2 to 3 days in deep sleep mode of OMAP4470?

    Regards

  • Hello Enzoantonio,

The question about OMAP4470 power consumption is complex and it is needed to take in mind the consumption of other devices connected to OMAP4.

I will suppose that the OMAP4470 power consumption in OFF mode could be about <100uA, but this depends on IO connections, DDR memories and others. The PRCM gives opportunities to control power consumption, but it is need to familiarize with power management features of OMAP.

You can use the power estimation tool, to obtain one rough estimation for power consumption in an embedded system. Refer to the link http://www.ti.com/tool/powerest

    Best regards,
