PandaBoard + Chipsee Expansion Board: Stuck during boot

Hi everybody,

I am trying to get my PandaBoard Es1.1 with the chipsee expansion pack to work. Obviously the driver for the LCD screen are working properly because while booting I can see the android boot animation. However, it stucks here and nothing more happens. I am using the prebuilt sd card images shipped with the chipsee expansion pack toc reate the sd card:

Do you know how to deal with this issue? I never got Android to properly boot on my PandaBoard.

  • Hello,

    There are many reasons that may be causing the "untracked pid" message. Generally this means that something is not starting properly and some processes are dying.

     - if your kernel came with a release notes make sure you follow them exactly

    - if possible try executing logcat and inspect carefully the outputted log. this may give you an insight on what is going wrong.

    What you could try is (also described in http://e2e.ti.com/support/omap/f/849/p/99274/645487.aspx#645487):
     - modifying the init.rc, init.omap44<30/60>.rc files according to http://omappedia.org/wiki/PandaBoard_L27.12.1-P2_Release_Notes#Bootargs

     - Ensure that you are passing enough vram in the bootargs.  For example, try vram=32M omapfb.vram=0:16M.

     - Ensure that your Graphics version matches between the kernel and filesystem.  See the instructions here: http://omapedia.org/wiki/Android_How-tos#Verify_Kernel_GFX_Version 

    You can also post in the Android Forum (http://e2e.ti.com/support/embedded/android/default.aspx).

    Since this kernel (and the board you're using) is a third party release I suggest you contact them as well for help or post in the Pandaboard Google group mailing list .
