How to install Windows Host ACM (USB CDC) driver?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM365

I have followed the instructions in the following URL to the T:

http://lxr.free-electrons.com/source/Documentation/usb/gadget_serial.txt?v=2.6.34

This document was also provided by Texas Instruments for their product TMS320DM365 which I use.

However, every time my device on the Windows XP PC side gets enumerated as a LibUSB-Win32 device and not as COM & LPT, as explained by the document. I wish to establish communication from gadget serial to windows host PC through USB CDC.

We have following configuration enabled for USB and serial:

CONFIG_USB_ARCH_HAS_HCD=y

CONFIG_USB=m

CONFIG_USB_MUSB_HDRC=m

CONFIG_USB_MUSB_SOC=y

CONFIG_USB_MUSB_PERIPHERAL=y

CONFIG_USB_GADGET_MUSB_HDRC=y

CONFIG_USB_TI_CPPI_DMA=y

CONFIG_USB_MUSB_LOGLEVEL=0

CONFIG_USB_MON=y

CONFIG_USB_GADGET=y

CONFIG_USB_GADGET_SELECTED=y

CONFIG_USB_GADGET_DUALSPEED=y

CONFIG_USB_FILE_STORAGE=m

CONFIG_USB_FILE_STORAGE_TEST=y

CONFIG_USB_G_SERIAL=m

CONFIG_SERIAL_8250=y

CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_CONSOLE=y

CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_NR_UARTS=1

CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_RUNTIME_UARTS=1

CONFIG_SERIAL_CORE=y

CONFIG_SERIAL_CORE_CONSOLE=y

CONFIG_USB_G_SERIAL=m

Could you please help?

Thanking you in anticipation.

  • We have enabled CONFIG_USB_ACM field

    I tried to install the USB driver accordingly, here is the list of outputs (please find attached)thereby displayed:

    1. On connecting the DM365 to PC, here’s what the device manager showed.(PFA->gadgetSerialInCOM_driverNotLoaded.jpg)
    2. On loading the driver by manually selecting a .INF file, here’s the dialog box shown.(PFA->attemptAfterLoadingTheDriver.jpg)
    3. Despite mentioning that the driver has been loaded successfully, the Gadget Serial (COM3) continues to show the yellow exclamation mark
    4. Perhaps, this is why when I open Tera Term to access COM3, I am not able to access it. (PFA-> teraTermWontOpenCOM3.jpg)

    Could you please help us resolve this issue, as to how to make COM3 accessible after this?

    Thank you,
