Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP410
I have a question regarding the video output from OMAP. I see it has parallel and serial digital outputs. On the OMAP35x EVM (Beagle board) schematic I see they have used the parallel output (DSS) and used a chip (TFP410?) to convert it to serial. The resulted serial in my opinion is the same as the serial output directly from OMAP (SDI). Why didn’t they just use the OMAP directly? This has happened similarly on the Mistral EVM Board.
Another question, can the OMAP serial display output (SDI) be used as the LVDS interface? I have datasheet of some LCDs that use LVDS, but they have 4 pair of data and one pair of clock while the SDI from OMAP has 3 pairs of data and 1 pair of clock.
