[OMAP3503] VDDS_MMC1A(VDDS_SIM) powered from 3.0V?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3503

Thank you all for your responses here.

I want to check on the correct hook up of the VDDS_MMC1A power pin(previously refered to in older documents as VDDS_SIM).  According to the lastest datasheet on the OMAP3503 part the VDDS_MMC1A power pin rating is either 1.8V or 3.0V.  This has changed from the earlier revisions of the datasheet which stated the VDDS_MMC1A(VDDS_SIM) was 1.8V only.  The VDDS_MMC1A power pins power only the MMC1 Data4-7 pins for 8bit mode for the MMC section of the OMAP.  Now the spec for MMC(and SD) states that in 8bit mode the voltage is only 1.8V(recalling from memory so I might be incorrect).   So it's some what curious that the VDDS_MMC1A power pins would do 3.0V as that is never a requirement according to the spec.

So for my design I would like to hook up the power for the VDDS_MMC1A together with the VDDS_MMC1 power pins.  Therefore the two powers would track.  The concern I have is will I destroy the MMC when applying 3.0V to the VDDS_MMC1A pins?  I believe my engineering paranoia is setting in.

Thanks

Gary
