Can I use the 16 GPIO pins ?

The Technical Reference Manual of C6670 EVM mentions that the GPIO pins are connected to FPGA only during power-on period for boot configuration. After power up, the GPIO pins are connected to NAND flash to access 64M bytes NAND falsh memory. And those GPIO pins are also connected to the 80-pin Expansion header for observation.

So besides the NAND flash access, do you want to use those GPIO pins for anything else on EVM please?

Take a look at the schematics to see if any of the signals are being used for any other purpose. Generally, we put GPIOs on the connectors so you can use them.

Check to see if the GPIOs are in sequence from a single bank. If so, then you can access them with a single read or write command.

The GPIOs will not be as fast as other methods of communication, so they tend to be used for simple signal accesses.
