USB Function of OMAP3530 Rev.D

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530

Hi All,

How can I get the information of the Rev.D(silicon 3.1) of OMAP3530?

Currently there are no documents of OMAP3530 Rev.D in TI web site.

OMAP3530 Rev 3.0 has some limitation and error of High-Speed USB Host Subsystem according to silicon errata.

Does it improve the USB function in Rev.D ?

I would like to know the information of Rev.D and difference between 'Rev.C' and 'Rev.D'

Thanks.

  • Hi,

Can you pl. point to which section or issue your are refering to in particular ?

    regards

    swami

  • It is my understanding that the datasheets and user guides apply to all silicon revisions and that limitations (variations) among silicon revisions are described in the errata.  By looking at our latest errata, it does not appear it has been updated to include rev 3.1 silicon; I will ping our internal teams to see when we can expect an updated errata document.

  • Remony,

Just to make sure, have you actually seen a Rev D silicon part?  I ask because our errata was updated Nov 2008 to include Rev C, so I find it unusual that we would have a new silicon rev so soon; it is possible, but normally we update the errata before silicon is available to customers (another unusual scenerio if Rev D indeed exists).  Anyway, I have already sent an internal e-mail to get more information on it, but just wanted to ensure we are not chasing ghosts and rev D actually does exist.  Thank you in advance for any additional feedback  you can provide.

  • Thank you for your answer.

There are two device type  'B' and 'D' in OMAP3530 site.

so I am anxious differences between 'B' and 'D'.

according to lastest errata funcional limitations when the high-speed USB host subsystem. (page.11)

Are these limitations typical specification of  OMAP3530? or Does TI has plan whichi will improve these limitation next revision?

  • Until the updated documents are published nothing is official, but I would not expect the existing USB issues to be remedied with the D revision, if/when they are fixed it will likely be a rev E or later.

As these are in the errata they are not in the official specification of the OMAP3, they are acknowledged as errata as such. We strive to fix as many of the silicon errata as possible so there is a possibility that the USB issues will be fixed one day however that is not something I can guarantee.

  • Quick update on this, I apologize for the last post as it is not correct, the advisory 3.0.1.152 and 3.0.1.153 pretaining to USB should be fixed in the new D silicon rev 3.1.
