dm8148 VIDEO CAPABILITY FOR 40Mbps decode 1080p30 * 2 support

Hello Champs,

For one of the design requirement, I am exploring processor option that can decode high bitrate h.264. Handling 40+ Mbps at 1080 resolution – dual channel decode. Processor should be capable to alpha blend and fade in and fade out high quality video clips.

Please do let me know if you can suggest any processor from TI family. Will Dm8148 be fit???

Best Regards

Feroz

  • Feroz,

The DM814x HDVICP2 supports resolutions up to 1080 p/i with full performance of 60 fps (or 120 fields). It will decode up to 1080 @ 60fps. There is no performance impact whether it is a single 60fps stream or 2 30fps streams. For CAVLC coded streams, bit rate supported in real time decoding is around 100 Mbps at 266Mhz. For CABAC coded streams, bit rate supported in real time decoding is around 25 Mbps at 266Mhz.

For more information regarding DM814x HDVICP2, refer to DM814x TRM, section 1.4.1 HDVICP2 Overview and :
