Two questions

Hi,

I was playing around the EVM board and got 2 basic questions:

1. Once I accidently plugged the DC powerline into the D7_Char_En port (close to the UART3) - I didnt' realize it until the board was powered on and nothing happened. I plugged back that into the correct D9 DC_EN later and it turned out everything is OK. Could that potentially do something bad to the board? What is this D7_Char_En for anyway, charing the possbily connected battery?

2. I was trying out booting from MMC/SD - during that, I often got situations when linux was not booting correctly and got stuck. Is there any power on/off button on the EVM, rather than plugging/unplugging the power jacket?

Thank you very much.

  • 1. Plugging into the charging jack (P22) should not damage the board, but it will also not power the board assuming you have no battery pack. If you did have a battery pack this connector would allow you to charge it, though I have never actually used this functionality myself.

    2. Technically there is nothing designed onto the board to make power cycling easier, however if you are not using a battery pack than the SW2 switch by the power jack achieves this purpose. The swicth goes between the DC wall power from P19 and the battery pack, so if you have no battery pack this effectively goes between power and no power. At least this works for me to more easily power cycle the board.
