I cannot follow OMAPL138 on-line example

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAPL138

Hi,

I installed CCS V5.5 on Ubuntu. Then, I installed MCSDK OMAP L138, toolchain. When I check the following link:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MCSDK_OMAPL138_User_Guide_Chapter_Exploring

I do not find the OMAP_L138... directory:

2  If U-Boot is not built yet, build U-Boot first, as building Linux Kernel requires mkimage utility, which gets built along with U-Boot. Refer to Rebuilding U-Boot for steps to build U-Boot. Once built, mkimage will be present under the tools folder of U-Boot source (/home/<user>/OMAP_L138_arm_x_xx_xx_xx/DaVinci-PSP-SDK-xx.xx.xx.xx/src/u-boot/uboot-xx.xx.xx.xx/tools). Ensure that this path is added to the $PATH variable by adding the following

It seems that that directory generated after u-boot creation, but I cannot locate DaVinci-PSP-SDK-#.#.#.# according the  following instruction:

  1. Use your Linux host to extract source files for building U-Boot from the src/u-boot/u-boot-#.#.#.#.tar.gz tarball from the Linux PSP package, which is located in the DaVinci-PSP-SDK-#.#.#.# directory under the main SDK installation directory. Use the tar command to extract the sources.
Could you help me on this problem?
Under Home/ti directory, I can only find directories:
mcsdk_1_01_00_02
pdk_OMAPL138_1_01_00_02
syslink_2_21_01_05
ti-sdk-omapl138-lcdk-01.00.00
Thanks,
  • Hi Robert W,

Sure, I can help you out.

You will find the Davinci-PSP-SDK ("linux-3.3-psp03.22.00.06.sdk") at under "..\ti\mcsdk_1_01_00_01\board-support"

and the "u-boot--psp" also at "..\ti\mcsdk_1_01_00_01\board-support". The tools folder will be inside the u-boot folder. At "..\ti\mcsdk_1_01_00_01\board-support\u-boot--psp\tools".

Tool chains and the filesystem at "..\ti\mcsdk_1_01_00_01\filesystem".

  • Hi Robert W,

I have tested the MCSDK installation both on Windows 7 machine and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

In Ubuntu and windows, the Davinci-PSP-SDK reamins the same. (ti/mcsdk_1_01_00_01/board-support$ cd linux-3.3-psp03.22.00.06.sdk ) ( please refer my previous post in this same thread for more details).

Thanks for pointing out that there is a mismatch in their linux package names and the folder structure given in the WIKI link http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MCSDK_OMAPL138_User_Guide_Chapter_Exploring Vs MCSDK installation. We will take neccessary actions to correct it.

    Shankari
