Headless BeagleBoneBlack and gnome-power-manager

I have been running a beaglebone black with a battery backup on board a cape. I have an issue with gnome-power manager. My intent was to have the beaglebone run off battery for 1 minute after the AC power cord was removed, then shutdown. If the power was to return within the 1 minute then nothing would happen and the system would simply continue on.

With gnome-power-manager running, if I remove and restore power the system still powers down in 3-5 minutes.

Does anyone know how to configure g-p-m to stay alive if power returns or do I just kill g-p-m ?
