SD Card Boot and Flashing for DM365IPNC-MT5

Hello everyone:

Is there anyone familiar whit DM365IPNC-MT5 ?

Now I try to Boot and Flashing for DM365IPNC-MT5 through SD Card. But I don't know how to set it to boot from SD Card. I think there is a switch to determin it boot from SD Card or Nand flash, but I can't find this "switch".

Yes, I did. But they asked me to watting for their answer. Maybe they don't have such a document by hand.

Rachel,

The IPNC hardware supports booting from SD card. But as a standard offering, we do not have solution to boot DM365 IPNC from SD card and flash the application on it. I will again forward your request to Appro if they can provide some pointers on how you can support SD boot.

1. insert SD card to PC or EVM and get it device name

2. format SD card from user root (once) ./dm3xx_sd_boot format /dev/<sd device>

3. reinsert SD card and wait when it will be automounted or mount manually

4. copy boot data to SD card from regular user (not root):

       $ make install
    or 
       $ ./dm3xx_sd_boot data [/media/disk/dm3xx.dat]

5. set DM3x5 to SD boot mode, inset SD to top slot of DM365 (if in was in PC before) or in bottom slot of DM355

6. boot DM3x5 and install firmware (UBL, u-boot, Linux kernel and root file system image) on flash

7. set DM3x5 to NAND boot mode

8. reboot DM3x5

9. optionally set u-boot environment to boot kernel and root fs from flash:

set bootcmd 'nand read 0x82000000 0x600000 0x400000;nboot 0x80700000 0 0x400000;bootm'
set bootargs mem=76M console=ttyS0,115200n8 root=/dev/ram0 rw initrd=0x82000000,8M ip=off

Hi Rachel,

As i mentioned in my previous post, DM365 as such support SD boot and DM365IPNC hardware also supports SD boot. The only problem is we have not tried it on DM365IPNC. Based on the Wiki that you pointed out, one can try booting the camera with SD card. The addresses for NAND, DDR and the boot arguments will vary for the IPNC as compared to what is listed on the Wiki for EVM and DVSDK package.

Hi, Anshuman,

Following is what APPRO told me:

We didn’t support to boot from SD card.

TI’s chip could support this function and we could implement it according to datasheet. Thanks

There is a jumper in the DM365 debug board that can be put to make the camera boot from SD card.

But the SD card booting software wont work as such in the DM365 IPNC from appro. This is because appro is using UART1 for displaying the console messages, but the SD booting code is configured to work with UART0. You can modify the SD card booting code and use along with DM365 IPNC

As Geo mentioned, the SD bootloader code need to be modified for IPNC Ref Design, the same way we did it for NAND UBL. Currently, the SD boot code is not coming as part of IPNC Ref Design. We plan to do it but the timeline is not decided.
