Hi,

I read the following link on set up Linux for L138 LCDK.

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/OMAP-L138_LCDK_Linux_SDK_Getting_Started_Guide.

It points to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and VirtualBox installation. It says that it only supports Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. On Ubuntu website, there is only 12 and 13 release.

I have a Windows XP PC, which also has a linux partition. I would like to know whether is better to install 10.04LTS (if I got it later) directly to the linux partition?

Hi,

I find some posts say OMAPL138 development requires Ubuntu 10.04LTS while some others use 12.04LTS, see below an example post. Could you give me a clear result on this? I do not want to multiple reinstall Ubuntu later again.

Thanks for pointing out that there is a mismatch in their linux package names and the folder structure given in the WIKI link http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MCSDK_OMAPL138_User_Guide_Chapter_Exploring Vs MCSDK installation. We will take neccessary actions to correct it.

I do not have a Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, otherwise I would have tested and replied.

Although, from the verfication message given at the sections of Linux Host setup, the MCSDK should work on both Ubuntu 10.04LTS and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MCSDK_OMAPL138_User_Guide_Getting_Started#Linux_Host_Setup

And also, Robert, MCSDK and linux SDK are different packages of TI. MCSDK comprises both the SYS/BIOS and Linux. In the first post, you enquired about the linux SDK, in the later it is about MCSDK.

MCSDK is the latest version. I would also recommend you to have a look at the software options suitable for you at http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/OMAPL138_SW_%26_HW_Comparison

LINUX SDK

For Linux SDK, according to the below link, the recommended Linux host is 10.04 LTS; but it doesnot mean it cannot work on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

MCSDK

The one, Which I reported is MCSDK; for which you can use either of the Linux host distribution, 10.04LTS or 12.04 LTS.
