Dear Sir/Madam,

I am developing a custom board of C6748, booting up via 16-bit NAND flash. I would like to use "AISgen" to generate the AIS output file of my project. Then, write the file to NAND flash by "sfh_OMAP-L138.exe". My project is tested successfully in C6748 LCDK development kit.

I would like to ask if the external DDR2 memory is necessary for my hardware design.

If no external memory is used in my board, could I still boot up my board via 16-bit NAND flash as in C6748 LCDK?

Hi Ada,

The serial flashing utility in its current form can`t support hardware platforms with no external DDR memory. The serial flashing host load the sft application image on the target using UART which then run to flash the binary to the flash device. If you look at the linker command file (DSP_sft.cmd) for the sft tool there are code sections allocated in the external memory so you may need to try some experiments to try to run the sft utility from device memory (L2,L3) to see if you are able to modify the utility to eliminate the dependency on DDR.

Note while relocating the sections ensure that you are non using any memory section reserved by the ROM bootloader during UART boot.

My current custom board doesn't contain external DDR memory and JTAG connector. Originally, I would like to write my program (AIS output file) into NAND flash by "sfh_OMAP-L138.exe". But now, the program stops at "Waiting for SFT on the OMAP-L138", It should be due to the external DDR memory issue.

Are there any methods I can write my AIS output file to the NAND flash without DDR memory and JTAG connection? Please kindly advise me any possible solutions.

Thanks for your reply.

I had tried to modified the serial flasing tool so that it can eliminate the DDR dependency, I had modified the DSP_sft.cmd as you had stated in last post. I also modified the device.c in order to skip the DDR configuration routine. But both failed.

I had also read a previous post about "Flashing problem on C6748 Custom board", http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/omap_applications_processors/f/42/p/256535/1069457.aspx#1069457

Seems that Bilal Khalid faces the same problem as me, did you solve the problems accordingly?

Could you please kindly suggest how can I solve the captioned problem? I am really urgent in this development project, please kindly help me to solve this problem.
