Hello!

I want to put an digital input to my ICE board, but it doesn't work

I work with the ethercat simple example and I try to read an input and set it to the output LEDs.

Therefore I just connected the 5V output to a switch and this to my first input pin.

5V should work, because the datasheet of the INDUSTRIAL 8-DIGITAL-INPUT SERIALIZER (SN65HVS882) to which the inputs are connected sets the threashold level to 4 - 5.5V.

Does anyone see my fault?

Or any other help?

Hi Stefan,

The datasheet says that the high-level input threshold voltage is typically 5.2V. You may be just on the edge with a 5V signal source. Have you tried to connect the switch to V24_0HVS?

Also see Figure 2 in the datasheet. With Rin-1.2kOhm the high-level input threshold voltage goes to typically 9.4V

Thank you, that was the solution! I just connected the switch to 24V.

Now it works!
