tsip interface

Hi,
TSIP Interface is using between DSP and FPGA in our prototype board.i read in hardware design guide as "Series resistors should be used on TSIP clock inputs".please suggest what is the value of resistor that is to be connected in series.

Regards,
Pradeep N.

  • Hi Pradeep,

A series termination resistor is a simplified termination technique to minimize the reflection on a single-ended trace. The basic circuit is shown below. Ideally the output impedance of the driver (Rd) plus the value of the resistor (Rs) should equal the impedance of the transmission line (Zo). A signal traveling along the transmission line will be reflected back by the load since the impedance at the load is very high. If the impedance at the source matches the impedance of the transmission line, the reflected energy will be absorbed and no further reflections should occur. You can use this information to determine the value of the resistor in your design.

    Regards, Bill
