DM8148 SATA interface as eSATA port

Hi ,

I want to use the the SATA interface of the DM8148 as eSATA port.

do i need to use any buffer/driver (such as MAX4951) b/w the SATA and eSATA port or can directly connect the SATA signals on eSATA port.

the second question is regarding the use of SERDES clock for SATA interface: as per datahsheet (DM8148) the use od SERED clock for SATA interface is optional, do i really need to provide the 100MHz Diff. clock to SERDES clock inputs (i want to use the SATA port as eSATA at 3Gbps).

Thanks

  • Hi Ashvin,

This is what we have regarding eSATA:

    We have one known issue:

SATA: harddisks behind the eSATA hub doesn't work.
