HS USB Boot function, two questions, DM3730 Multimedia Device

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DM3730

On the DM3730 datasheet Page 3549, the Caution box reads:

Please refer to the diagram below:

Our card is designed where the power-management IC's USB0 is connected to the DM3730 Multimedia Device through I2C4, not I2C1.

QUESTION1:  I must verify whether or not the HS USB1 port, connected to a ULPI based USB PHY device, can be used for the DM3730's HS USB Boot function? Y/N?

QUESTION2: I must verify whether or not the DM3730's HS USB Boot function will reliably boot up with a USB Hub installed as shown in the above diagram.  Y/N?

Looking forward to a prompt reply; thank you in advance,

Joe Suina

  • Hi Joe,

You could verify whether the HS USB1 port, connected to a ULPI based USB PHY device, can be used for the DM3730's HS USB Boot function, but if the I2C1 interface is not connected as description in the DM3730 Technical Reference manual the successful booting is not guaranteed.
