run am335x starter kit, the u-boot always failed

Hello Sir:

I'm buy a am335x starter-kit board from TI, and I download

the Androdi 4.2 source code from your company.

But when I build finish and run, the u-boot was failed, but it's OK using

your sd card image.

I think maybe am335x starter-kit has no EMMC,

the u-boot need to modify to run from SD card, isn't it?

Do you have a "uenv.txt" file on your SD card? Compare it to the original one and see if there are any differences.

Yes I have uenv.txt on my SD card, they are same, when I only replace TI release u-boot.img for the fail log one, it's can boot success, so I doubt maybe u-boot source code need to modify.

by the way, the source code that I build, u-boot can't run any command, even "help".

Yes, I'm follow develope guide for Android 4.2 as follow:

step 1. expor toolchain path

step 2. cd u-boot and cleanbuild

it's successful only if I run "git checkout rowboat-jb-am335x-4.1.2" for u-boot dir.

No one has this problem??

the toolchain I use was "rowboat-android/prebuilts/gcc/linux-x86/arm/arm-eabi-4.6/bin", right??

Hi,

There is no "rowboat-android" folder inside $HOME.

The toolchain should be inside $HOME/TI_Android_JB_4.2.2_DevKit_4.1.1/prebuilts/gcc/linux-x86/arm/arm-eabi-4.6/bin. That is, if you have unpacked the Android JB package inside your home dir.

So the command to export the path to the toolchain should be:

export PATH=$HOME/TI_Android_JB_4.2.2_DevKit_4.1.1/prebuilts/gcc/linux-x86/arm/arm-eabi-4.6/bin:$PATH

Here is what I did after exporting the path:

make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-eabi- distclean
make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-eabi- am335x_evm_config
make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-eabi-

Then I copy the MLO and u-boot.img binaries to the /boot partition of my SD card and when I boot the StarterKit into U-Boot, every command works.

You mentioned checking out a branch inside the u-boot git tree. Why do you do this? This isn't necessary.

Here is the last commit of the u-boot git tree. Please reset to this commit and follow my instructions.

2830d15707d01efdfe918aba14ed9183208453f5 Merge remote-tracking branch 'ti-uboot/ti-u-boot-2013.01.01-amsdk-06.00.00.00' into am335x-v2013.01.01

Also, after you copy the MLO and u-boot.img binaries to your SD card, do a "sync" before you safely remove the SD card from your reader.
